Book arts, hand lettering, sketching

Thursday, September 21, 2017

I recently took a workshop with calligrapher, Gemma Black, who is from Tasmania, Australia.  We studied Versals from the 10th century and quickly moved to modern versions. Versal letters are drawn, usually with two strokes then filled in.

Cards for friends. The black and white letters below were
re-worked to even the thickness of the letters.
I used a Brause nib, .5 mm, and Dr. Ph. Martin's Pen White.
